Mainau Island
Known as a destination far beyond the Lake Constance region
The island, known for its floral splendor, has much more to offer. An adventure and water playground is available for the “little ones”. You can discover 120 species of butterflies in the butterfly house between tropical plants and watercourses or you can enjoy a coffee under palm trees in the 1200 square meter palm house. On the Mainau Island there is not only something for the eyes, but also for the stomach. Island restaurants, cafés and snack bars ensure your physical well-being. The Mainau Island also offers guided tours that take you to the most beautiful places on the island. Your dog is also allowed to explore the island, but only on a leash.
From Konstanz you can reach the island with bus number 4 from the train station or Sternenplatz. From the island of Reichenau you can travel free of charge via bus and train to Konstanz main station as part of the tourist tax/guest card and change there to bus line 4. By car from Konstanz you follow the well-regulated signs to the island. From Reichenau Island, keep right towards Konstanz and follow the signs to the left towards Mainau. Before you go to the island, there is a large parking lot because cars are not allowed on the island.
You can reach the island by boat from Konstanz via Meersburg. This is also possible from the island of Reichenau with a change in Konstanz, but the total journey time is around 4 hours.

How to get to Mainau Island?
By bus: From Konstanz, take bus line 4 from the train station or Sternenplatz. From Reichenau Island, you can take a free bus or train to Konstanz train station and change there.
By car: From Konstanz, follow the signs to the island. There is a large parking lot in front of the island, as cars are not allowed on the island.
By boat: From Konstanz via Meersburg. From the island of Reichenau you have to change trains in Konstanz, the journey then takes about 4 hours.
